Soho House has given Soho Roc House, its beachfront club and hotel on Mykonos, a makeover for the new season. The first Soho House in Greece when it opened in 2020, in the former San Giorgio hotel above Paraga Beach on the island’s south coast, the house has reopened with new furnishings throughout, from bespoke beds to sofas and armchairs, and a careful reworking of the lighting, with warm, layered indoor schemes meant to carry the mood from day into evening.
That interior direction builds on a look the house has favoured since its conversion from San Giorgio: sand-coloured plaster, rattan furniture, and folk art set against a deliberately unpolished, lived-in backdrop. Rooms still range from Tiny to Extra Large across the property’s 44 keys, each with rainforest showers and full-size Cowshed amenities, but the refresh has clearly been aimed at sharpening rather than replacing that original identity — new pieces slotted into a palette the house already understood.
Outside, where the place earns its keep, there are new daybeds around the pool and deck, fresh pergolas framing the terraces, and walls refinished in soft Myconian tones above the bay. It is, in effect, a refresh of the parts of the house that do the most work: the pool deck and the shaded lounging terraces are where Soho Roc House has always made its case, more crash pad for recovering beach-club guests than conventional hotel, and the investment has gone where the guests already gather.
A new kitchen garden of vegetables and herbs now feeds a more farm-to-table menu through the day; the brief, in Soho House’s words, was to fold its own style into the rustic, bohemian feel Mykonos is known for. It is a return to first principles for a group whose Mediterranean houses have always traded on a sense of place rather than imported polish, and a kitchen garden is a fairly direct way of making that argument with produce rather than design language alone.
Scorpios, the group’s beach club a short walk away, remains part of the draw, with members and guests using its priority entrance — a reminder that Soho Roc House has never really competed on its own footprint alone. The house functions as much as a base camp for the wider Paraga and Paradise beach scene as a destination in its own right, and the renovation seems to have been built with that role in mind rather than trying to turn the property into a freestanding resort.
The refreshed house is open for the summer; bedrooms are bookable now at sohohouse.com, where membership is the usual route in, though rooms remain open to non-members as well. For a property that has spent five seasons establishing itself as Mykonos’s most design-literate antidote to its own nightlife, the changes read less as reinvention than as maintenance of a formula that was already working.
