Thomas B. Meier is leading Jumeirah Group’s transformation from an iconic Gulf hospitality brand into a globally recognised luxury hotel platform.

Appointed Chief Executive Officer in January 2025 after serving as Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO, Thomas B. Meier inherited one of hospitality’s most recognisable brands. His responsibility extends beyond operating the Burj Al Arab. It is to shape Jumeirah into a coherent global luxury platform while preserving the service standards that made it internationally respected.

Drawing on leadership experience across Raffles, Fairmont, Swissôtel and Minor Hotels, Meier is executing Jumeirah’s Mission 2030 strategy to expand the portfolio from around 30 to 50 hotels. New destinations across Saudi Arabia, Africa and Europe demonstrate a measured approach to growth, positioning Jumeirah as one of the Gulf’s most ambitious global hospitality operators.

Jumeirah Group: Expanding beyond Dubai into a global collection of luxury hotels, resorts and residences while maintaining the operational standards that define the brand.

Burj Al Arab: The world’s most recognisable luxury hotel remains the foundation of Jumeirah’s global brand as the company expands into new international markets.

Mission 2030: Jumeirah’s expansion from approximately 30 to 50 hotels reflects a disciplined strategy focused on iconic destinations, operational excellence and long-term global brand growth.

Market thesis:  Thomas B. Meier illustrates a broader shift in luxury hospitality: operational expertise has become as valuable as ownership. As iconic hotel brands expand beyond flagship assets into global platforms, disciplined execution, selective growth and consistent service standards are becoming the primary drivers of long-term value. Jumeirah’s Mission 2030 strategy reflects this evolution, positioning the group to compete internationally while preserving the identity established by the Burj Al Arab. In today’s market, the operator is no longer simply managing the brand—they are shaping its global relevance, commercial resilience and long-term competitive advantage.
