Aman Announces First Ranch-inspired Retreat In The U.s

Aman has unveiled its sixth U.S. property and, notably, its first ranch-inspired retreat. Named Amansanu—derived from Sanskrit for “peaceful peak”—the project is set in Texas Hill Country, northwest of Austin, within a landscape of rolling hills, limestone escarpments, and winding creeks. It marks the brand’s first direct engagement with this particular terrain at scale. The concept represents a clear shift in typology. Rather than applying its established resort formats, Aman is adapting its language to a working ranch context—positioning the property as both sanctuary and operational landscape. The development will include standalone pavilions and a limited number of Aman-branded residences, each set on hillside plots starting from ten acres to emphasise privacy through distance and topography.

Amenities will centre around a main lodge, multiple dining venues, and an Aman Spa and Wellness Centre integrated along a natural creek. Racquet sports courts and extensive hiking trails will sit alongside the brand’s first fully serviced stables, introducing a programme more directly tied to the land itself. The result is a more grounded, place-specific expression of the Aman experience. Architecture is led by Olson Kundig, a practice known for embedding structures within challenging landscapes. Their involvement suggests continuity with Aman’s broader design philosophy, while allowing for a more regional interpretation. The built environment is expected to respond as much to climate and terrain as to brand language.

No opening timeline has been confirmed. For now, the project remains an announcement of intent rather than a near-term arrival, consistent with Aman’s typically extended development cycles. It is a project to track rather than plan around. What is clear is the strategic direction. Amansanu introduces a new category within the Aman portfolio—the ranch as retreat—expanding the brand’s vocabulary beyond its established formats. In a state where scale and landscape have long outpaced the level of hospitality, it signals a recalibration that places Texas firmly within Aman’s evolving geography.
