Fouquet’s Mykonos: A Parisian Institution Reimagined

The world’s most successful hospitality brands are no longer defined by a single address. Increasingly, they are expanding by exporting a carefully curated identity rather than simply replicating a hotel. Fouquet’s has followed that path with the opening of its first property in Greece, bringing one of Paris’s most recognisable hospitality names to the shores of Mykonos while attempting to preserve the character that has defined the brand for more than a century.

Located on Paraga Beach, Fouquet’s Mykonos becomes the fifth hotel in the Barrière group’s portfolio, joining Paris, New York, Courchevel and Saint-Barthélemy. The resort comprises 61 suites and three private villas, designed in a restrained Cycladic language of whitewashed forms, natural stone and low-slung architecture that appears to emerge from the surrounding landscape. Direct access to the Aegean is complemented by an indoor swimming pool—an uncommon feature on the island—and a basketball court carved directly into the rock, creating moments that distinguish the property from Mykonos’ established beach club culture.

Wellness plays an equally significant role. The property’s Rock Spa, developed in partnership with Dr Barbara Sturm, introduces treatments centred on longevity and recovery, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, flotation experiences and ice baths. Dining is anchored by ROKA Mykonos, bringing the internationally recognised Japanese restaurant group’s robata-grilled cuisine to the beachfront, reinforcing the growing convergence of hospitality, wellness and destination dining within contemporary luxury travel.

The opening also reflects a broader shift taking place across global hospitality. Rather than creating entirely new concepts for each destination, established brands are increasingly building international portfolios around a distinct identity that guests already recognise and trust. Success depends not on recreating Paris in the Cyclades, but on interpreting the essence of Fouquet’s through local architecture, landscape and culture while maintaining the service standards that have defined the brand for generations.

Now open for reservations, Fouquet’s Mykonos marks another step in Barrière’s international expansion and demonstrates how legacy hospitality brands continue to evolve beyond their original addresses. Increasingly, luxury travellers are choosing hotels not simply because of where they are, but because of the values, experiences and sense of place a trusted brand can consistently deliver around the world.
